Who we are…
Roar Brewing Co. was founded by Evan Fay, a U.S. Air Force veteran whose love for craft beer began while stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. During his time in the military, Evan spent weekends exploring breweries across Colorado, Alaska, and beyond discovering the creativity, community, and pride that great beer can bring people together around. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion.
That passion followed Evan back to Detroit, where he set out to build something different—an unapologetically fun, welcoming brewery that feels accessible to everyone, not just craft beer insiders. Roar Brewing Co. was created for Detroiters: bold in spirit, proud of the city, and built around community, sports, and shared moments over great beer.
Today, Roar Brewing Co. holds the distinction of being the first Black-owned brewery in the city of Detroit—an important milestone in an industry where less than 1% of breweries nationwide are Black-owned. While that distinction matters, Roar’s mission is simple: make great beer, create an inclusive space, and give Detroit something to be proud of.
From our flagship Honey Oat Stout to our lineup of easy-drinking, crowd-pleasing beers, Roar Brewing Co. is about flavor without intimidation, pride without pretense, and building something Detroit can truly call its own.
Roar Brewing Co. is proudly brewed in Detroit—where grit meets greatness, and every pour tells a story.
